Debt Management - Property Snakes & Ladders

line

One of the principles causes of the current debt management nightmare for Brits up and down the country is the stagnation of the property market and a new report suggests that the situation is worse than first feared.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, the property market malaise, not to mention the debt management nightmare that results, is now so profound that house sales are now at their lowest levels than any other time in the last 30 years. The previously buoyant housing market often acted as a safety net for those with debt management problems but the credit crunch has effectively removed this safety net and, in the process, left millions of homeowners with substantial debt management problems or facing the very real possibility of their homes becoming a negative equity.

Debt Management - Selling Struggles

According to the report in the Daily Mail, a homeowner putting their property onto the market today will find it more difficult to find a buyer than at any other point in the last three decades. According to a report from the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rics), estate agents sold, on average, just 17.2 homes between them in the months of March, April and May; which represents a 32% reduction on the same point last year. The knock on effect of this property problem is it will invariably have implications on the debt management plans of those who are already struggling with making mortgage repayments and making financial ends meet each month. Debt management is now one of the most pressing concerns for homeowners up and down the country and being in substantial arrears can be very stressful which is why many are expected to make use of schemes such as a debt consolidation loans or a professionally planned debt management plan in order to secure their financial futures during 2008.

Debt Management - Mortgage Drought

The situation witnessed with the housing market can be largely seen to result from a massive drying up of available or, indeed, affordable mortgages. This has made the debt bubble looming over the UK even more susceptible to bursting and this is having the effect of throwing many people’s debt management plans into disarray as they struggle to make ends meet as a result of their disposable income being severely restricted by various financial factors.
